Nisus Macros for HTML+ XTND Translator

This file is an addendum for Nisus Writer users to the HTML+ documentation. HTML+ is written by Leonard Rosenthol, this document and styles was produced by Nigel Perry. Errors are down to me (Nigel). You should read Leonard's HTML+ documentation before this file. This file describes some Nisus Writer styles to help prepare file to be output using the HTML+ translator. The styles are embedded in this document. To generate a stationary pad containing them you should copy this file, delete all the text, and then "Save As" a stationary pad.

To view this document in your HTML Browser, use the Nisus Writer "Export" menu item (option-Save) and select the HTML+ translator from the popup menu at the bottom of the dialog. Enter a suitable name and press save. Now switch to your browser and do an "Open File" or "Open Local".

Non-List Styles

The non-list styles provided are:
Strong
The style Strong will display text in bold in Nisus. In a browser strong text looks like this.
Emphasise
This displays as underline in Nisus. In a browser emphasised text looks like this.
Citation
This displays as italic in Nisus. In a browser it looks like this.
z Force Bold, z Force Italic, z Force Underline
These styles force bold, italic, and underline respectively. They may look just the same as strong, emphasised, or cited text - this depends on your browser. In Nisus they look different as they are condensed. These styles are rarely used, so they all start with 'z' it force them to the end of the Style menu.
Paragraph
The style for a paragraph! The font is set to 12 point Times.
Header 1, Header 2, Header 3, Header 4
These styles produce headers. They are set to 24, 20, 18 and 14 point Times respectively. You must not change the point size of these styles, as it is the size which the HTML+ translator uses to determine that the text is a header.

Lists

HTML supports various list types, the HTML+ translator uses colours to indicate the different types. The list above was a "definition" list, these are indicated by green. The Nisus Writer styles for lists are as follows (note this isn't presented as a definition table to allow for examples):

Unordered Lists

The Unordered style typically produces a bulleted list of items:

Ordered Lists

The style Ordered produces an ordered list:
  1. First item in list.
  2. The numbers are not visible in Nisus.
  3. The Nisus style indents the margin by 1cm and sets the colour to blue, which tells the HTML+ translator that this is an ordered list.

Definition Lists

The HTML+ translator uses green text to indicate a definition list:
Definition
The HTML+ translator uses alternate paragraphs to delimit the header of a definition list item and its description. So that it looks better in Nisus two styles are provided; the first is Definition which sets the colour to green. Its following style is defined to be:
Definition Desc
This style indents the margin by 1cm and sets the colour to green.
The above two styles must be used in pairs.

Menu and Directory Lists

Both menu and directory lists are supported using the Menu and Directory styles.
  • Other Features

    Document Title and Author Address

Anything is a header is considered to be the document title, and is put into the document as such. Anything in a footer is considered to be an address, and is put into the document as such. Title and Address styles are provided to format these.

    Pictures

All the Nisus Writer styles mentioned so far have the line spacing set to Fixed. While this gives the text a consistent vertical layout, it is not much good for lines which contain pictures. The style Picture is therefore supplied which is a parallel of Paragraph, but has the line spacing set to Auto. Use this style for inline pictures.
